Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon organized a visit to 505 Army Base Workshop Camp, Delhi Cantt, New Delhi on 8th April, 2016. 78 students of Mechanical Engineering Department along with Mr. Amit Bhatia, Mr. Vijay Raj Pilania, Mr. Kuldeep Sangwan, and Mr. Prem Chand Chokar visited the workshop at Delhi Cantt.

505 Army Base Workshop is a wing of Corps of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers (EME) of the Indian Army.

The 505 Army Base Workshop is one of the eight Army workshops located across India. The headquarters, Base Workshop Group, is in Meerut. These workshops come under the Corps of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers and employ an estimated 18,000 civilian workforce.

Brig Rajesh Puri gave introduction of the working of workshop and highlighted the valuable points that need to keep in mind during the shop floor visit. He described the weapons used at the battle field and safety measure required at the time of battle.

After presentation, all the staff members and students moved with Cadet S.N. Raghav towards shop floor to understand about the operations performed on old battle tank to prepare for battle again.

3. Arjun (Tank)

1. T-72 is a Soviet second-generation main battle tank that entered production in 1971. About 20,000 T-72 tanks were built, making it one of the most widely produced post–World War II tanks, second only to the T-54/55 family. The T-72 was widely exported and saw service in 40 countries and in numerous conflicts. Improved variants are still being built for export customers.

2. T-90 is a third-generation Russian battle tank that entered service in 1993. The tank is a moderate variation of the T-72Band incorporates many features found on the T-80U – it was originally called the T-72BU but was later renamed to T-90. It is the most advanced tank in service with Russian Ground Forces and the Naval Infantry.

3. Arjun is a third generation main battle tank developed by India's Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), for the Indian Army. The tank is named after Arjun, the main protagonist of, and India's great archer according to, the Indian epic Mahabharata.
